Digital transformation initiative to strengthen Pirivena education system

A comprehensive digital transformation initiative is set to enhance Pirivena education, following key decisions made at the 204th Pirivena Education Board meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The discussion focused on equipping Pirivenas with modern learning infrastructure, including internet access and smart classroom facilities, to ensure that students in these institutions benefit equally from ongoing national education reforms. Plans are also underway to provide advanced training for teachers and staff to support this digital transition.

Minister Amarasuriya emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for academically and culturally talented Pirivena students, highlighting the need for a structured system to evaluate and retain such talent within the traditional Buddhist education framework while aligning it with modern educational standards.

The meeting was attended by senior clergy, including Venerable Narampanawe Ananda Anunayake Thero, several Mahanayake Theros, and top Ministry of Education officials, reflecting a collaborative approach to advancing the future of the Pirivena education sector.
