Six people, including five of Sri Lanka’s most notorious underworld figures and a woman, have been arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia, during a joint operation by the Sri Lankan Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Indonesian Police.

Police said the arrested underworld figures are known by their aliases: ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’, ‘Commando Salinda’, ‘Panadura Nilanga’, ‘Thembili Lahiru’, and ‘Backhoe Saman’.

In addition, the wife of ‘Backhoe Saman’ and their three-year-old child were also taken into custody.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP F. U. Wootler confirmed that the arrests were made through a coordinated effort between the CID’s special team and Indonesian authorities.
