Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East impacting global aviation, Sri Lanka continues to strengthen its air connectivity with the launch and resumption of two key international routes.
India’s IndiGo commenced its new direct service between Delhi and Colombo on 29 March 2026, operating six weekly flights using Airbus A320 aircraft. This addition expands IndiGo’s footprint in Sri Lanka to over 55 weekly flights from five major Indian cities.
Meanwhile, Batik Air Malaysia resumed its direct Kuala Lumpur-Colombo service on 30 March 2026 with four weekly flights operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
These developments signal confidence in Sri Lanka’s aviation and tourism sectors, even as regional uncertainties continue, further enhancing connectivity and supporting travel demand into the island.
