
A Sri Lankan delegation led by Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe departed for Geneva on 1st of June to attend the 113th session of the International Labour Conference.
The conference, organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), will be held from June 2 to 12 and will address key global labour and employment issues.
Representatives from 187 countries, including ministers, labour leaders, and trade union delegates, are expected to participate in the summit.
The Sri Lankan delegation comprises Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe, Labour Ministry Secretary S.M. Piyatissa, Labour Commissioner General Nadeeka Wataliyadda, and Senior Additional Secretary (Foreign Affairs) Mr. Wasanthan.
In addition, four trade union representatives and one member from an employers’ association are also part of the delegation.
The conference will provide a platform to discuss international labour standards, workers’ rights, and the evolving challenges in the world of work.
