

Sri Lanka has said the time is now ideal to elevate its bilateral relations with Bangladesh to a higher level, highlighting the importance of arranging a state-level visit between the two countries in the near future.

This view was expressed by Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra during a farewell call by Bangladesh High Commissioner Andalib Elias in Colombo.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister commended the High Commissioner’s contribution to strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh throughout his tenure.
He noted that both countries have made steady progress in cooperation and should now further enhance political engagement and high-level exchanges to deepen the partnership.
High Commissioner Elias reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Sri Lanka and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
