Dengue resurgence threatens Sri Lanka

The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) reports 3,649 dengue cases in the first three weeks of 2025.

Two dengue-related deaths have also been confirmed during this period.

The Western Province recorded the highest number of cases, with 1,576 infections reported.

Colombo District reported 491 cases, Gampaha 558, and Kalutara 95.

The NDCU has identified 22 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions as high-risk areas for dengue outbreaks.

Authorities continue to urge the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites to prevent further spread.
