Dengue cases in Sri Lanka surpass 25,000 mark in 2025

Over 25,000 dengue cases have been reported in Sri Lanka so far this year, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

Community Specialist Dr. Priscilla Samaraweera stated at a media briefing on June 3 that a total of 25,055 dengue cases and 13 related deaths have been recorded to date.

More than half of the reported cases have originated from the Western Province.

Dr. Samaraweera urged the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and to take extra precautions during morning and evening hours, when dengue-carrying mosquitoes are most active.
