
The National Dengue Control Unit has confirmed that five people have died from dengue so far this year.
A total of 14,678 dengue cases have been reported across the country during this period.
Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Ratnapura districts have recorded the highest number of cases.
In comparison, Sri Lanka reported 49,870 dengue cases in total last year.
In response to the surge in infections, the National Dengue Control Unit will launch regional dengue prevention programs in schools starting this weekend.
Authorities emphasize the importance of early prevention and public cooperation to control the spread of the disease.
