MP Dayasiri Jayasekera has responded to reports circulating on social media claiming he is set to be appointed as the Assistant Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), stating that he has not yet made a final decision regarding his political future.

He confirmed that SJB leader Sajith Premadasa had extended an invitation for him to join the party, but emphasized that no agreement has been finalized.

“Premadasa did invite me to join the SJB, but nothing is finalised yet,” Jayasekera told the Daily Mirror.

Jayasekera contested the 2024 general election under the SJB ticket, although he remained a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) at the time.
