Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has accused the Government of using arrests and criminal cases to silence political critics.

He claimed that those who speak out against the administration are being targeted instead of allegations of fraud and corruption being addressed.

Jayasekara alleged that critics are being arrested under the Public Property Act, making it difficult for them to secure bail.

He cited several recent arrests, claiming they were linked to individuals who had publicly criticised the Government.

The MP warned that he and other opposition figures could also face similar legal action in the future.

The Government has not publicly responded to Jayasekara’s allegations.
