D. V. Chanaka has claimed that the government does not have the ability to hold elections and is attempting to delay the Provincial Council polls.

Addressing the media, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian said those who had promised to hold Provincial Council elections soon after coming to power were now absent from the election campaign.
Chanaka alleged that key decisions regarding the country were currently being made either by officials attached to the “Pelawatte Party Office” or by government ministers.
He further charged that government MPs were now seeking to postpone the Provincial Council elections instead of conducting them as previously promised.
