

New People’s Front leader Sugeeshwara Bandara lodged a complaint with the Sri Lanka Police at Thalangama this morning over an alleged assault near the residence of Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma in Pelawatte.

According to a party spokesperson, Bandara was threatened and attacked while arriving with supporters to take part in a protest held بالقرب Suriyapperuma’s residence.
The complaint reportedly names 13 individuals, alleged to be affiliated with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), as being involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Suriyapperuma had also lodged a separate complaint with the Thalangama Police yesterday regarding the developments.
Police have since recorded a statement from Bandara in connection with the complaint made by the Finance Ministry Secretary, as investigations into the incident continue.
