The Constitutional Council (CC) has given its approval for the appointments of High Court Judges K.M. Sarath Dissanayake and Pradeep Hettiarachchi to the Court of Appeal.
The nominations for these appointments were submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for the CC’s approval.
Judges Dissanayake and Hettiarachchi are the two most senior serving High Court judges in the country.
The two judges are scheduled to take their oaths as Court of Appeal Judges next week.
Their elevation to the Court of Appeal is seen as a significant step in their judicial careers.
The appointments reflect the ongoing strengthening of the judicial system in Sri Lanka.
