Melbourne comedy troupe Sooshi Mango has been named this year’s Moomba Festival monarchs, joining a prestigious list of past honorees.
The five-day Moomba Festival will return to Melbourne’s CBD from 6th to 10th of March, featuring crowd favorites like the Birdman Rally, Moomba Parade, and an exciting water sports competition.
Over the years, Moomba monarch crowns have been worn by notable figures such as 9News anchor Peter Hitchener, radio personality Fifi Box, and entertainers Rob Mills and Rhonda Burchmore.
Last year’s monarchs, beloved children’s entertainer Emma Watkins and comedian Peter Helliar, helped continue the festival’s rich tradition of celebrating Australian talent.
Sooshi Mango, consisting of brothers Carlo and Joe Salanitri and their friend Andrew Manfre, has built a massive online following with their viral comedy skits.
In addition to their comedy success, the trio also runs Jonny, Vince, and Sam’s Ristorante, a popular eatery on Lygon Street.
This year’s Moomba Festival will feature its iconic parade with 1,600 performers, along with a vibrant transformation of Federation Square into the “ultimate pop playground.”
Festivalgoers can also enjoy a free live performance by Australian pop artist Peach PRC as part of the Moomba celebrations.
