The Colombo National Hospital, the largest healthcare institution in Sri Lanka, has been functioning without a permanent director for the past two months, according to doctors attached to the hospital.
An acting director was appointed temporarily after the previous director was promoted and transferred to the Ministry of Health as an Additional Secretary.
However, the lack of a permanent head has reportedly led to administrative issues in several hospital units, affecting operations and coordination.
The hospital, which employs around 1,500 doctors and 200 specialists, has a total staff of approximately 25,000.
