Colombo Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar’s participation in a traditional Japanese dance performance has gone viral on social media, becoming one of the most widely shared clips in recent days.
The Mayor took part in the dance during an event held at the National Youth Council to commemorate 73 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.
A video of her performance was widely circulated online, drawing public attention and sparking conversations on various platforms.
Although Mayor Balthazaar did not directly address the viral video in her Facebook post, she expressed her appreciation for the event and highlighted her meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akio Isomata and First Secretary Shinichi Murata.
“Japan continues to be a strong supporter of national initiatives in Sri Lanka, and we’re excited about the possibilities of working together with the Colombo Municipal Council as well. Looking forward to building meaningful partnerships that benefit our city and its people,” she wrote.
