Colombo mayor walks blindfolded to experience challenges faced by the visually impaired

Colombo Mayor Vraîe Cally Balthazaar joined a group of vision-impaired individuals on Tuesday to raise awareness about the daily challenges they face.

To experience these difficulties firsthand, Mayor Balthazaar took a walk around Colombo while blindfolded.

She was accompanied by Sugath Wasantha de Silva, Sri Lanka’s first-ever vision-impaired Member of Parliament.

“I am being blindfolded so I can understand what it is like to navigate the city without sight,” Mayor Balthazaar said during the exercise.
