
Sri Lanka saw a significant drop in inflation for January 2025, with the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) recording a Year-on-Year inflation rate of -4.0%.
This marks a decrease from -1.7% in December 2024, according to data from the Central Bank and the Department of Census and Statistics.
Food inflation fell to -2.6% in January, down from 0.8% in December, while non-food inflation stood at -4.7%.
Despite the negative inflation trend, the overall CCPI for all items rose slightly to 192.6 in January, up from 191.7 in December.
Month-on-Month changes contributed 0.11% from food items and 0.36% from non-food items.
The CCPI Core Index, which measures underlying inflation, also increased to 178.4 in January from 177.1 in December.
