Sri Lanka’s overall inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, rose to 2.3% in January 2026, up from 2.1% recorded in December 2025, according to the latest figures released by the Department of Census and Statistics.
The increase was mainly driven by higher food prices, with year-on-year inflation in the Food category climbing to 3.3% in January from 3.0% in the previous month.
In contrast, inflation in the Non-Food category remained unchanged at 1.8% in January 2026, the same rate reported in December 2025.
