
A conference titled “Riding the Indian Wave: World’s Fifth Largest Economy on Sri Lanka’s Shores” was held in Colombo on 27th March focusing on how Sri Lanka can leverage its proximity and connectivity to India for economic growth.
Hosted by Verité Research with support from the High Commission of India in Colombo and Hayleys Advantis, the event explored strategies to enhance exports, attract investments, and drive sustainable economic recovery by capitalizing on India’s growing economic influence.
Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing India’s advancements in technology, logistics, and skill development as key opportunities for Sri Lanka.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations and advocating for joint ventures led by entrepreneurs and innovators as the way forward.
The hybrid event gathered over 100 participants, including policymakers, industry leaders, economic experts, and media representatives from Sri Lanka and India.
The conference is part of the High Commission of India’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue at Track 1.5 and Track 2 levels, strengthen India-Sri Lanka ties, and build trust and cooperation between the two nations.
