
The Colombo High Court on 16th of July adjourned the hearing of a case involving an assassination attempt on former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka.
The case, filed against three accused over a 2006 suicide bombing at Colombo Army Headquarters, was postponed to 4th of August .
High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne presided over the hearing.
Deputy Solicitor General Lakmali Karunanayake requested the adjournment due to the absence of a key prosecution witness.
The judge granted the request and scheduled further examination of evidence for 4th of August 2025.
The Attorney General has filed 27 charges against the accused under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and Emergency Regulations.
The charges include conspiring to assassinate General Sarath Fonseka in the 2006 suicide attack.
