Colombo glows for Christmas and New Year

Colombo is ready to captivate its residents and visitors with stunning Christmas and New Year decorations, transforming iconic landmarks into festive marvels.

Festivities began on19th of December and will run until 1st of January, featuring attractions like concerts, video projections, drone shows, and fireworks.

Vihara Mahadevi Park will host the Tri-Forces and Police band performances 2nd to 25th of December, alongside a carnival with food stalls and fun rides until 25th ofDecember .

The Presidential Secretariat will showcase a spectacular 3D video mapping display from 21st to 31st of December extending to 2:00 AM on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Streets across Colombo will sparkle with rope light decorations, with key roads and iconic buildings like Independence Square and Town Hall adorned with festive lighting starting 23rd of December.

The Lotus Tower will display festive projections of “Merry Christmas!” and “Happy New Year!” from 23rd of December to 1st of January 2025.

A drone light show will illuminate Galle Face Green on New Year’s Eve, marking a grand welcome to 2025.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police will launch a nationwide traffic operation starting December 23 to ensure road safety during the festive season, with strict checks on passenger buses and drivers for reckless driving, speeding, and substance use.
