
With commodity prices rising in the global market, coffee lovers have to pay more for their favorite drink.
The price of Arabica beans, widely used by international producers, rose to $3.44 a kilogram on Tuesday, up 80 percent this year, the BBC reported.
Robusta bean prices are said to have hit a new high in September.
Coffee traders expect demand to remain strong after bad weather hit Brazil and Vietnam, two of the world’s biggest producers.
Brazil and Vietnam were reported to suffer the worst droughts, followed by heavy rains and poor harvests.
Data released last month showed Australian coffee suppliers were holding up despite cost-of-living pressures.
