A new study suggests that drinking coffee may reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Out of 290,000 coffee drinkers examined, only 13,000 were diagnosed with the condition.
Participants who consumed black coffee without sugar had a 10 percent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Researchers believe coffee drinkers tend to gain less weight, which may contribute to this reduced risk.
However, adding sugar or artificial sweeteners diminishes coffee’s health benefits.
Both caffeinated and decaf coffee were found to lower sedentary behavior and reduce the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes by 10 percent.
