A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against a leading Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) youth activist over an alleged AI-manipulated video targeting Minister Vijitha Herath.
According to the complaint, the video—circulated on social media—had been digitally altered using artificial intelligence to depict an image resembling Minister Herath against a Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) backdrop, accompanied by derogatory remarks.
Chaminda Jayanath, Coordinating Secretary to Minister Herath, alleged that the video was deliberately created to damage the reputations of Minister Herath, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the JVP.
