China’s top legislator Zhao Leji met with Sri Lanka’s Parliament Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne in Boao, Hainan Province, during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026.
During the meeting, Zhao, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, stated that China is ready to align its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) with Sri Lanka’s development strategies and further strengthen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Speaker Wickramaratne reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s firm commitment to the one-China policy and expressed appreciation for China’s continued support, noting that the Sri Lankan Parliament looks forward to strengthening exchanges with China’s National People’s Congress to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation.
