On Friday, China announced a series of additional tariffs and export restrictions in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs.
The Chinese Finance Ministry revealed that a 34% tariff would be imposed on all U.S. goods starting from 10th of April.
In addition to the tariffs, Beijing will impose controls on the export of medium and heavy rare-earth elements, such as samarium, gadolinium, and dysprosium, to the United States, effective April 4.
The Commerce Ministry stated that these export controls were implemented to protect national security and fulfill international obligations, including non-proliferation commitments.
China also added 11 foreign entities to its “unreliable entity” list, a move that allows the government to take punitive actions against these organizations.
