Chicago-Delhi flight diverted after toilet blockage

A South Asian flight was forced to return to its country of origin after multiple toilets malfunctioned due to passenger misuse, foreign media reported.

The incident occurred on a flight from Chicago to Delhi when several passengers blocked the toilets by disposing of polythene bags and clothes in them. As a result, eight out of the 12 toilets on board became unusable.

Despite being near Europe, the pilots decided to return to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport after a 14-hour flight, as many European airports have restricted night operations.

An airline representative stated that the decision to divert the flight was made to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers. To minimize inconvenience, all passengers and crew were provided with accommodation, with the airline citing a technical issue as the reason for the diversion.
