Chandimal and Avishka omitted from Sri Lanka squad

Batsmen Dinesh Chandimal and Avishka Fernando have been left out of Sri Lanka’s T20 squad ahead of the three-match series against Zimbabwe, which begins in Harare on September 3. Both players were part of the Sri Lanka team that last played a T20 home series against Bangladesh last month.

The upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe will be the team’s final assignment before the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates, starting on September 9. Sri Lanka opens its tour of Zimbabwe today with the first ODI, followed by the second and final game on Sunday, with both matches starting at 12:30 p.m. Sri Lanka time.

Sri Lanka announced a 17-member squad for the T20 series, featuring Nuwanidu Fernando, Kamil Mishara, Vishen Helambage, and Dushan Hemantha, along with other regular team members. Nuwanidu Fernando is already part of Sri Lanka’s ODI squad in Zimbabwe, while 20-year-old Helambage, a batsman from St. Peter’s College, is the newest addition to the T20 side.
