Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, alleged that certain interested organisations are attempting to legalise same-sex marriages in Sri Lanka.
Speaking during a religious service at St. Mary’s Church in Beruwala, he stated that such marriages are not a human right.
The Cardinal noted that while same-sex marriages have been legalised in some parts of the world, this does not justify introducing them in Sri Lanka.
He expressed strong opposition to legalising marriages between individuals of the same sex, referring to it as contrary to traditional values.
