The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued a strong public advisory urging citizens not to be misled by inaccurate claims and misleading narratives regarding money printing and exchange rate policies.

In a notice titled “Do Not Be Deceived!”, the CBSL stated that matters such as currency printing, money supply management and foreign exchange rate determination are highly technical economic processes that require specialised expertise to properly understand and analyse.
The Central Bank warned that superficial interpretations and false information currently circulating among the public could create unnecessary confusion and misunderstanding about the country’s economic policies.
CBSL further advised the public to rely on credible and official sources for information related to the economy and financial policy matters.
