Australia’s 2026 Census night has passed, but people who have not yet completed their form still have time.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics says Census forms can still be submitted after August 11.
Completing the Census is compulsory for almost everyone who was in Australia on Census night.
People who fail to comply with a formal direction to complete the Census could face a fine of up to $364 per day.
The ABS says it will first contact people and encourage them to complete their forms before taking legal action.
The Census data is used to help governments plan services including healthcare, schools, transport and infrastructure.
