The Financial Consumer Relations Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will launch the ‘Anti-Pyramid National Awareness Week’ from 14th to 18th of July 2025, under the theme “Pyramid is a trap – don’t get into the wrong track.”
This initiative is part of the CBSL’s broader mission to safeguard financial system stability and protect the interests of financial consumers.
The campaign aims to raise nationwide awareness about prohibited pyramid schemes and the serious risks they pose to individuals and the overall economy.
A wide range of groups will be targeted through the campaign, including school students and teachers, members of the Tri-Forces, Civil Security personnel, police officers, government employees, and the general public.
Awareness activities will be conducted across 6,172 schools and 14,022 Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions, ensuring extensive grassroots coverage and community engagement.
Throughout the week, participants will receive education on the legal framework regarding pyramid schemes, how these fraudulent models operate, the dangers and financial losses involved, and real-life stories from victims.
The CBSL urges all citizens to actively engage with the campaign and stay informed, stressing that awareness and vigilance are key to preventing financial fraud and preserving trust in the financial system.
