The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the presentation of the Appropriation Bill for the 2025 financial year to Parliament today, as announced by Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
During a meeting held this morning, the Cabinet granted approval for the bill, which outlines the government’s proposed expenditure from January 1 to 31st of December 2025.
The total estimated expenditure for the year is set at Rs. 4,218 billion.
The National Peoples’ Power (NPP) Government, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, will present the 2025 Budget to Parliament today, with the President delivering his inaugural budget speech.
