The Cabinet has granted approval for amendments to the Value Added Tax (VAT) and Inland Revenue Acts, which will now be published in the government gazette before being submitted to Parliament for approval.
Following Cabinet meetings in December 2024 and February 2025, directives were given to the Legal Draftsman to draft bills amending the VAT Act No. 14 of 2002 and the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017.
The amendments have received clearance from the Attorney General.
As a result, the Cabinet approved the President’s proposal, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, to publish the draft bills and present them to Parliament for approval.
