CAA to expand consumer awareness campaign in 2026

Following a landmark year in consumer education, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced plans to further strengthen and expand its awareness programs in 2026, targeting the general public, schoolchildren, and the business community.

In 2025, the Authority conducted a record 1,540 consumer awareness programs, the highest number ever achieved in a single year. Through these initiatives, CAA officers directly reached over 120,000 people across all districts of Sri Lanka, educating them on consumer rights, fair trade practices, and market regulations.

Beyond in-person programs, the CAA has continuously shared information through electronic, digital, and print media, significantly broadening its outreach to consumers and traders nationwide.

Officials stated that the expanded 2026 program will place greater emphasis on early education for school students and enhanced engagement with traders, aiming to create a more informed, fair, and transparent marketplace in Sri Lanka.

Members of the public can obtain further information or lodge complaints via the CAA hotline, 1977.
