Buddhism’s evolution in Australia

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released the latest data on the country’s established religious groups, highlighting the inclusion of Buddhism among 15 new religious groups.

Buddhism in Australia is now categorized into three main groups: Mahayana, Theravada, and Vajrayana.

Additionally, the data shows 25 Christian groups, 45 Islamic groups, and 45 other religious affiliations.

Religious affiliation serves as a key indicator of Australia’s cultural diversity and can aid in the provision of various services, such as educational facilities, church buildings, and aged care services.
