A clean-up is underway after a rain bomb hit Brisbane, while heat wave conditions are set to intensify elsewhere in the country.
More than 81mm of rain fell on Brisbane overnight, causing flooding and forcing thousands of fans out of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba.
The city’s Lord Mayor Adrian Shriner has warned that the summer’s flooding could be as catastrophic as the 2022 record event.
A minor flood warning is in place for Dunollie, while moderate flood warnings have been issued today for Barker, Lockyer and Laidley Creeks.
The Bureau of Meteorology said overnight rains had inundated catchment areas, but no further heavy rains were expected.
“Showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days, however no significant rainfall is expected,” the bureau said in an updated statement.
