Bright future for migrant engineers

Australia is facing a shortage of qualified engineers, according to authorities.

Bernadette Foley, acting chief engineer at Engineers Australia, emphasized that while the country has many talented migrant engineers, many still face unnecessary barriers to accessing Australian jobs.

Foley also highlighted that women make up about 16% of qualified engineers in Australia, and 19% of engineering graduates are women.

Romilly Madew AO, chief executive of Engineers Australia, called for policies to be developed to encourage more people to enter the engineering sector, ensuring a strong future for Australia’s workforce.
