Brazil reinstates visas for U.S., Canada, Australia tourists

Brazil has reintroduced visa requirements for citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia, ending a six-year visa-free policy that was originally implemented to boost tourism and business ties.

Effective from 10th of April , travelers from these three countries will no longer be allowed to enter Brazil without a visa.

The Brazilian government stated that while the visa exemption aimed to encourage international tourism, the new decision reflects shifting diplomatic and policy priorities.

Officials emphasized that visitors can still apply for entry through a simplified and streamlined visa process. The government also noted inconsistencies in international tourism policies, highlighting that many countries still require visas for Brazilian citizens.

As a result, all tourists from the affected countries are now required to obtain a visa prior to traveling to Brazil.
