Boy injured after jumping from locked room; police investigate

Keselwatta Police have launched an investigation after a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured jumping from a locked room.

The boy had been forcibly confined in a room on the second floor of a two-storey house by a resident.

The incident occurred after the child, along with two other neighborhood children, went to a nearby shop and knocked on the gate of a three-storey house.

A resident of the house allegedly dragged the boy inside and locked him in a room.

In an attempt to escape, the boy jumped from the window and sustained serious injuries.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo.

Police have arrested a 59-year-old man who was involved in the incident, while the homeowner has reportedly fled.
