The bodies of the Leader of the Opposition of the Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha, his wife, and their daughter were found at their residence in Yahalatenna, police confirmed.
According to police, the opposition leader is believed to have died by suicide, while the bodies of his wife and 17-year-old daughter were discovered in one of the rooms of the house.
The deceased have been identified as a 52-year-old man, his 44-year-old wife, and their 17-year-old daughter.
The Peradeniya Police have launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
