The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) and the National Savings Bank (NSB) have reported historic profits for the year 2024, according to the President’s Media Division.
The announcement was made after the banks’ annual reports were presented to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on 22nd of May.
BOC recorded a pre-tax profit of Rs. 106 billion, the highest ever by any institution—public or private—in Sri Lanka’s history.
NSB, on the other hand, reported a significant turnaround, posting a pre-tax profit of Rs. 26.4 billion, up from just Rs. 4.2 billion in 2023.
These results mark a major milestone in the financial performance of both state-owned banks.
