Bill Gates: AI to replace two major professions in 10 years

Bill Gates has predicted that advancements in artificial intelligence will drastically reduce humanity’s involvement in traditional professions like medicine and education, with this shift potentially occurring within the next 10 years.

In a recent interview on NBC’s The Tonight Show with comedian Jimmy Fallon, the Microsoft co-founder envisioned a future where AI would take over tasks that currently require specialized human skills, making human involvement unnecessary for many roles.

Gates explained that expertise in fields like medicine and education is still rare, relying on exceptional professionals such as skilled doctors and teachers. However, he believes that within the next decade, access to “great medical advice” and “great tutoring” will become free and widespread.

In a conversation with Harvard professor Arthur Brooks, Gates referred to this transformative era as “free intelligence,” predicting that AI would revolutionize sectors like healthcare and education, with AI tutors becoming widely available.

He acknowledged the profound and somewhat unsettling pace of these changes, remarking that AI’s rapid development has no clear upper limit.
