Bids invited for expansion of Jaffna and Katunayake international airports

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation has announced two significant infrastructure development projects to enhance Sri Lanka’s aviation sector.

First, the Ministry has invited proposals for a feasibility study on the expansion of Jaffna International Airport (JIA) at Palaly.

Reputed airport consultancy firms that meet specific criteria are eligible to submit proposals.

A pre-proposal conference and site visit are scheduled for 8th of January 2025, at JIA, with proposals due by 2:00 p.m. on 29th of January 2025.

Additionally, bids are now open for the completion of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Development Project Phase II, Stage 2, Package A1.

This project involves constructing the main terminal building, piers, and related infrastructure. After being halted in 2022 due to economic challenges, the project will now proceed using previously procured materials.

Bidders must submit their bids by 2:00 p.m. on 18th of March 2025.
