Belavia has carried more than 12,000 passengers between Minsk and Sri Lanka within six months since launching its charter flight programme, Belarusian aviation officials said.

Director of the Aviation Department at the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry, Igor Golub, stated that regular flights between Minsk and Sri Lanka are now being planned following the signing of an intergovernmental air services agreement between the two countries on May 13 in Minsk.
According to Belarusian media reports, the agreement will enable regular passenger and cargo operations between the two countries, while also strengthening business cooperation and bilateral relations.
Igor Golub said the Minsk–Mattala–Minsk charter programme began on October 28, 2025, and has so far completed 24 round-trip flights carrying over 12,000 passengers.
He noted that both Belarus and Sri Lanka are showing strong interest in expanding tourism and economic cooperation following recent high-level discussions between the two governments.
Golub further stated that aviation authorities from both countries are expected to coordinate flight frequencies as part of plans to launch regular scheduled services in the future.
