Former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena says that former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has been advised by doctors not to undertake air travel due to his current health condition.

Speaking at a media briefing, Abeywardena stated that Rajapaksa’s medical condition is such that even airlines are reportedly unwilling to assume responsibility for his travel on long-haul flights.
He also said that the issuance of a warrant over Rajapaksa’s failure to appear in court is part of the normal legal process when an individual does not attend proceedings.
Abeywardena further noted that medical reports indicate Rajapaksa is currently unfit for extended air travel lasting several hours.
However, he added that Rajapaksa is prepared to return to Sri Lanka once his health improves.
