Skilled Sri Lankans have promising employment opportunities in Bahrain, according to Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Chairman Kosala Wickramasinghe.
He made these comments during a networking session in Bahrain with licensed recruitment agencies, organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy.
Chairman Wickramasinghe, currently on an official visit to Bahrain, also met with local authorities to enhance labour migration cooperation and safeguard Sri Lankan workers’ welfare.
He reiterated SLBFE’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of Sri Lankan expatriates working abroad.
Wickramasinghe praised the support and collaboration of Bahrain-based recruitment agencies in facilitating ethical and safe employment.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain, Ms. Shanika Dissanayake, stressed the importance of aligning foreign recruitment efforts with the government’s plan to expand the country’s skilled workforce.
The discussions aimed to streamline the recruitment process, promote ethical hiring practices, and strengthen the protection of migrant workers.
Both Sri Lankan and Bahraini representatives pledged to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of Sri Lankan workers in Bahrain.
They also explored new areas of employment in Bahrain’s expanding labour market.
The visit reflects Sri Lanka’s broader strategy to increase overseas job placements for skilled workers while reinforcing bilateral labour ties.
