Australia’s private health insurance premiums set to rise again

The federal government has announced that private health insurance premiums in Australia will increase by approximately 3.73% from 1st of April.

Health Minister Mark Butler stated that private insurance companies were given three opportunities to submit relevant requests before the decision was made.

He believes this is a favorable outcome for the more than 15 million Australians with private health insurance.

Government data reveals that around 15 million Australians hold private health insurance, collectively paying $29.9 billion in premiums in the 12 months leading up to September 30 last year.
