Australia’s 2024–25 wool selling season ended on a rare flat note, with the Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) showing no change in both local and US dollar terms.
Despite this overall stability, crossbred and carding wool types recorded notable gains of 5 to 20 cents, while Fremantle’s mainly Merino offerings rose by 15 cents per clean kilogram
In contrast, Merino fleece prices softened in eastern centres, particularly for drought-affected, low-yield wool, which faced significant discounts of up to 50 cents.
China’s topmakers dominated the buying, and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified wool continued to attract strong premiums, leading into the new season starting next week with 30,000 bales on offer.
